Today on the farm, we were racing the weather to get one of the most important pasture jobs done before the rain moved in. Healthy pasture means healthier animals, and with Alabama’s acidic soil, spreading lime is something we work hard to stay on top of here at Cog Hill Farm. Brooke brought home the big buggy loaded down with crushed limestone, and we spent the day trying to beat the incoming storm while getting as many pastures done as possible. From the cows and horses to Nugget, Opie, Ernest, Honey, Jesse, Peaches, and the rest of the crew, everything we do starts with taking care of the land first.
