You Won’t Believe What An Email Has Me Doing To The Pigs Now?
What started as a simple email turned into something we never expected to be doing for the pigs here at Cog Hill Farm. In today’s video, we’re taking you along for a full day on the farm as we try something new with Peaches and Loretta—something straight out of the show pig world. Do pigs really need conditioning and grooming like horses? We put it to the test and the results might surprise you. While we’re at it, we get into our normal routine—feeding animals, checking on the horses, and sharing an honest update on riding Maggie again after all these years. I also answer one of the most asked questions from the last video: just how sore was I after that ride? We’ve finally gotten some much-needed rain here in Alabama, so we take advantage of it by working on the blackberry rows using our cane suppression method, fertilizing the orchard, and getting everything back on track after a dry stretch. The goats, donkeys, and everyone else definitely benefit from that work. We also try out a viral “farm hack” to help keep wasps away from our farm stand… but I’m not fully convinced yet. Let me know in the comments if you’ve ever tried it and if it actually works. As always, this is real, everyday farm life—nothing staged, just doing what needs to be done and learning as we go. We appreciate you being here and following along with us. If you enjoy these kinds of videos, make sure you’re subscribed and let us know what you think about this new pig routine. Thanks for watching, and we’ll see you on the next one. 🚜 Mrs. Cog Hill Farm's Channel: https://www.youtube.com/@mrscoghillfarm 🐷 Cog Hill Farm For Kids Channell: https://www.youtube.com/@FarmerJason 🐄 Everything Cog Hill Farm: https://www.coghillfarm.com/ Welcome to Cog Hill Farm, where compassion meets agriculture! My First Ride In 10 Years, & Her First Since I Bought Her (Did I Mess Up?)
What happens when you get back on a horse after 10 years… and it’s the first time that horse has been ridden since you brought her home? Today on Cog Hill Farm, I finally saddle up Maggie for her first ride here on the farm—and my first time riding in over a decade. I didn’t know what to expect. Was she going to be calm? Nervous? Buddy sour? Or was this a mistake waiting to happen? Before we ride, we take you through the full morning routine, feeding all the animals and getting everything ready. Then it’s time to saddle Maggie up, let her settle after breakfast, and see how she handles being ridden again. With changing weather, a small window before the rain, and a horse that hasn’t been ridden in weeks, this ride could have gone a lot of different ways. This video shows the real side of getting back into horseback riding after years away, working with a new horse, and learning each other at the same time. There’s no shortcuts here—just patience, observation, and trusting the process. If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to ride a horse again after a long break, or how a horse reacts after time off, this is about as real as it gets. On this farm, every day is a learning experience—for both the animals and us. Thanks for hanging out with us and riding along. 🚜 Mrs. Cog Hill Farm's Channel: https://www.youtube.com/@mrscoghillfarm 🐷 Cog Hill Farm For Kids Channell: https://www.youtube.com/@FarmerJason 🐄 Everything Cog Hill Farm: https://www.coghillfarm.com/ Welcome to Cog Hill Farm, where compassion meets agriculture! I Looked Over & Couldn’t Believe It!
Today on Cog Hill Farm, I thought Jesse the donkey had somehow learned a new trick, but it turns out we had a mystery on our hands. While doing chores solo, I found animals where they were not supposed to be, a fence that had lost its fight, and a farm repair that could not wait. With Loretta offering plenty of “help,” I patched up the problem, checked in on the animals, showed the roses and garden, and wrapped up my final day holding down the farm by myself. Thanks for watching and being part of the Cog Squad. We love y’all and hope you have the best day ever. 🚜 Mrs. Cog Hill Farm's Channel: https://www.youtube.com/@mrscoghillfarm 🐷 Cog Hill Farm For Kids Channell: https://www.youtube.com/@FarmerJason 🐄 Everything Cog Hill Farm: https://www.coghillfarm.com/ Welcome to Cog Hill Farm, where compassion meets agriculture! Just When You Think It’s All Figured Out, This Happens!
Join me for a real day on the farm at Cog Hill Farm as we tackle morning chores, check on all the animals, and deal with a couple unexpected issues that popped up. From feeding horses and cows to working in the fruit orchard and fixing a drip irrigation leak, this is what everyday farm life really looks like. In today’s video, I give an update on our American Pillar roses that are finally blooming like never before after battling powdery mildew, share what’s working to control the issue, and show how the roses are loading up with bright pink blooms. We also take a look at the cattle curtain system and troubleshoot why flies started showing up again, plus a simple fix that made a big difference. Out in the orchard, I repair a damaged drip irrigation line and check on blueberries, apples, and pears after a late frost. There’s even a surprise with our European pear trees that made the whole day worth it. You’ll also see our daily farm routine, including feeding horses, cows, pigs, poultry, and checking on all the animals that make up life here at Cog Hill Farm.
